Obituary

Joseph "Joe" J. McGee, 77 of Brigantine, NJ entered into rest surrounded by his loving family on Friday November 25, 2016 at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA. Born in Atlantic City, NJ he was the son of the late James Edward McGee and Frances Schottdorf Thurlow.

Joseph served his country honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966. Joseph for most of his life was the business manager for Asbestos Workers Local 89. He was an active and proud member of the Brigantine American Legion. Joseph was widely known for being a tireless advocate of occupational health and safety, an avid fisherman, all Philadelphia sports enthusiast and all around beer connoisseur. But most of all he was known for being a loving father, grandfather and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Joseph will be fondly missed and remembered by his four daughters; Kelly Carruolo, Dawn Carruolo, Jennifer DelliSanti wife of Dennis, Meghan McGee, son; Matthew McGee husband of Melissa, two grandchildren; Ryan McGee, Logan Torres-McGee. He was predeceased by his wife Carole Griffiths McGee in 1992, companion Marti Parks in 2013, sister Dolores Courtney and brother James McGee husband of Jane.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joseph's Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 331 8th Street South, Brigantine, NJ 08203. A Life Celebration Viewing will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2016 at Keates-Plum Funeral Home, 3112 Brigantine Ave., Brigantine, NJ from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and at the church from 10:00am to 10:50am. Final commendation and farewell will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's memory to Lung Cancer Research Foundation, 155 East 55th Street, Suite 6H, New York, NY 10022.
